Our LO's school seems to be at the other end of the range, so useful to remind myself of tip 5. (I am no tiger mother, but it does sometimes feel like an appraisal by proxy). Thanks for giving it from the teacher's perspective too, very helpful.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06719637272826234489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8831433262757717308.post-60839969443081357082013-01-22T20:30:41.069+00:002013-01-22T20:30:41.069+00:00Thank you for your comment - your husband sounds l...Thank you for your comment - your husband sounds like a Dad 2!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14047777081788228431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8831433262757717308.post-35782973314734985282013-01-22T19:51:30.779+00:002013-01-22T19:51:30.779+00:00Thank you for your comment. He made sure our girls had a full-size netball post as soon as they could play, always threw the ball hard to them ("if they can catch a ball thrown by me, they'll catch it thrown by any youngster..."), and never let them win at anything. When our son finally beat him at table tennis, nobody was more pleased than Competitive Dad...Jaqui Ballhttp://www.retiringinstyle.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8831433262757717308.post-75371513929247041282013-01-22T18:09:31.477+00:002013-01-22T18:09:31.477+00:00I wrote a similar post on this subject a couple of...I wrote a similar post on this subject a couple of years ago (I'll leave a link at the bottom if you're interested) around school sports days. I actually believe there is a third type of dad which is basically your Dad 2 masquerading as Dad 1, only he can't help himself being competitive sometimes. No prizes for guessing that's my type. I can just about restrain myself when playing with my kids - but only just. Yesterday I had to instruct 'Mum' on how to pack a parcel as the post office had refused entry to a mum packed parcel. French mothers and fathers feel chocolate in copious quantities is the ideal start to the day - this morning we had pain au chocolat, washed down with a bowl of chocolat chaud and followed by two children with crepe au nutella.... This is much to the consternation of daddy who frequently gets left with a large bowl of fruit salad to consume over the course of the day as Mother and children feel there are more suitable options involving chocolate to commence the days activities. Dads are also less concerned by outward appearances - and all to the better in my mind for breaking down societal prejudices - although perphaps when I bought the osama bin laden pyjamas and wanted the young boys to wear them on the plane back Mum was perhaps culturally aware enough to deposit them in a local Poubelle.... They do however smell considerably better but their bark is beastly.. Quite the opposite of our dog fortuitously - Tom.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8831433262757717308.post-2212230228198572012-09-16T20:32:11.129+01:002012-09-16T20:32:11.129+01:00Thankyou both for your comments - we all loved Pad...Thankyou both for your comments - we all loved Paddington when we were little didnt we!
